Attorney General Dave Sunday launched a statewide campaign at the Loder Senior Center in East Stroudsburg: red STOP signs on Bitcoin ATMs and a request that businesses post them.

Good start, but with all due respect this is not getting at the major issue. There are huge crypto scams taking advantage of people, particularly older people, and they start long before the kiosk, with a call, a text or a fake investment site. The FBI ranked Pennsylvania ninth in the nation in losses to older adults in 2025, with more than 7,000 seniors reporting losses of about $216 million, according to the FBI’s 2025 Internet Crime Report.

An old story: a cop finds a woman looking around a parking lot.

He asks, "Can I help you?"

She says, "I lost my keys."

He asks, "You lost them here?"

She says, pointing, "No, over there."

Perplexed, he asks, "Then why are you looking here?"

She responds, "The light is much better here."
